    Info:

  • Background:

Madrid, the spirited heart of Spain, has a history as colorful and layered as its famous tapas. Originally a Moorish fortress named Mayrit around the 9th century, it was transformed into the nation's capital in 1561 by King Philip II, who saw its strategic potential. From then on, Madrid became the epicenter of Spanish royalty, politics, and culture, witnessing the grandeur of the Habsburg and Bourbon dynasties, surviving the tumult of the Spanish Civil War, and emerging as a modern metropolis. Today, its streets weave together tales of old, with architectural marvels like the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor standing beside contemporary marvels and bustling boulevards, offering a living canvas where the past and present dance in harmony.

  • Accommodation: Stay near Sol or Gran Vía for central access to many of these attractions.

  • Transportation:: Madrid's transport system is user-friendly; the "Abono Turístico" card offers unlimited travel for tourists. Uber might be helpful for efficiency.

  • Weather: Check the weather; Madrid can get hot in summer, so plan indoor activities for the afternoon or ensure you have hats and sunscreen.

  • Cultural Events: Check for any family-oriented events or festivals happening during your visit. Madrid often has street fairs or cultural activities in public spaces.
